Analysis Services 2005 Timeout

SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services has ExternalCommandTimeout setting that controls how long will Analysis Server wait for data source to return records. The default value is 3600 seconds (1h). To change it you need to go to Management Studio, connect to the server and open Properties and then click on Show Advanced Properties.

This setting is important when you start getting uninformative errors like "Query timeout" in the log. However, instead of extending time, you should try optimizing the query, adding indexes to your data source...
